Things to consider:
- The student participant must:
- be a person with a disability
- attend a post secondary institution in Canada
- be willing to participate in evaluation activities
- Collaboration among students, professors and
disability support professionals is crucial.
- Recording quality plays an important part. The
better the recording, the faster you'll receive accurate results. Follow
these tips to ensure a high-quality recording:
- the instructor must wear a headset or lapel microphone
- you can use your recording software of choice or Audacity, a free recording software
- if using a digital recorder a headset or lapel microphone must be worn by the instructor
- Internet access is essential as your multimedia transcripts are hosted online.
- To maintain standards defined by the Tri-Council Research Ethics Board, faculty are not to recruit students directly to participate in the Youth Initiative. We encourage you to facilitate the recruitment process by way of a third party, such as a disability support professional, teaching and learning staff member, or educational developer.
